2013 Tesla Model S
Tesla’s luxury sedan Model S is one of the most popular electric cars on the market, its production is increased so it is not surprise we are getting a redesigned 2013 model.
The high quality materials were used for interior of the 2013 Tesla Model S, so it look pretty nice. Central console is dominated with a large 17-inch high end touchscreen display which shows all the car info, lots of other notifications and it has a GPS navigation. You’ll be happy happy with its performances and quality, it looks amazing.
2013 Tesla Model S is best described as a sport sedan, but it can also be used as a family vehicle. It can transport up to five passengers. There are three versions when it comes to the battery size and the largest capacity model offers 85 kWh and other two offer 60 kWh and 40 kWh packs. These Lithium Ion battery packs are placed in the floor and as a result we are getting much better handling and stability because of the lower center of gravity.
First in production was the highest capacity version of 85 kWh after that 60 kWh battery version started and we can expect to see soon 40 kWh version starting also. In 2012 Tesla Motors accumulated more than 13 000 orders and now with the assembly line is working at the full capacity these vehicles will be delivered soon.
According to EPA range of the 85 kWh version is 265 miles or about 426 km which is more than enough for most drivers. Real world tests delivered slightly lower figures but these mainly depends on the driving style and the weather conditions and we were able to see much better results but also lower were delivered.
Standard version delivers a 270 kW or 362 hp electric traction motor that sends the power to the rear wheels through a single speed gearbox. Since everything is placed in the back of the car at the front we are getting the trunk that this company calls “frunk” because it is at the front. There is also a Model S Performance version that has even more power and it comes with a 301 kW electric motor or 416 hp that allows this car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph or 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds which is comparable with much more expensive sport cars.
In 2012 there were several software updates that brought some improvements, so it’s expected to be more of these in 2013 model. The charger in 2013 Tesla Model S allows this EV to be charged much faster than usual. Also you could use Tesla Supercharger network that will allow about 80 percent in about 30 minutes. These superchargers will be fitted on the roads and many drivers will be able to use them.
Base model with a 40 kWh battery pack will cost about $57.400 and it will go significantly up for an 85 kWh version that is priced at $87.400. For a Signature edition that was available in 2012 price was set to more than $100.000.
