BMW ConnectedDrive will get Siri and S Voice integration
BMW has announced that all new 2014 car models will be getting BMW ConnectedDrive in-car system integrated with Samsung S Voice and Apple Siri.
BMW ConnectedDrive has been synonymous with forward-looking concepts and technologies in the domain of automotive connectivity for many years. By refocusing on tailor-made mobility services and new, highly innovative service features, BMW is extending its lead in this field.
In the US, this will mean new standards offering throughout the range for the 2014 model year, a significant update to the latest BMW iDrive user interface, the ability for customers to add services after they purchase the vehicle if they wish. BMW ConnectedDrive will also include a range of features tailored specifically to BMW i.
It seems that iDrive 4.2 firmware for the 2014 model year will be able to support web browsing whenever your vehicle is stationary (for obvious safety reasons, of course), and there is also iAP Bluetooth control via iOS devices alongside integration with both Siri Eyes Free and S Voice.
Not only that, this new revision will also deliver voice search for locations using Google, and there is even a ConnectedDrive Store which allows you to purchase services without having to leave the car. In addition, BMW will throw in Android app support in 2013 as well, where majority of their rides will carry built-in SIM cards from July onwards.
