BusinessCar tops Toyota as the greenest car manufacturer
Toyota Motor Corp once again wins the title of the greenest car manufacturer, the fifth time in six years, according to BusinessCar magazine. The magazine analysed the environmental performance of the UK’s top 20 fleet manufacturers by looking at factors including average CO2 emissions, the number of low-CO2 cars offered, and how well each is performing against European emissions targets.
Toyota earned a total score of 82 per cent and took maximum ratings in four of the 10 criteria, including range-wide CO2 average (118g/km) and ‘current eco effort’, which noted that seven Toyota models (Prius Plug-in, Yaris Hybrid, Prius, Auris Hybrid, Prius+, Aygo and iQ) currently achieve sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.
Toyota’s variance from its EU emissions target was also the best in test at -18.8 per cent.
BusinessCar editor, Paul Barker, wrote: “Excellent average emissions, being nearly 20 per cent below its EU emissions target and having an excellent variety of low-emission models … all helped the Japanese manufacturer.”
