Nissan Qashqai 2014 Hybrid images and specs
Take a look at pictures of an all-new 2014 Nissan Qashqai, a plug-in hybrid that is set to debut in November 2013 and that will go on sale in 2014. We also have some details regarding this vehicle.
Nissan executive vice president Andy Palmer says the model will have an innovative design that will be more upscale than its predecessor. That’s not much to go on but the crossover is expected to resemble the Hi-Cross concept which debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
“The future Qashqai will be innovative with both styling and technology,” Palmer said. “Don’t expect it to look like the current car with a few extra radiuses.”
Engine options remain unconfirmed but choices are rumored to include a 1.6-liter diesel as well as a supercharged 1.2-liter petrol that develops 113 bhp (84 kW) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque. There will also be a plug-in hybrid variant, Palmer confirmed that this version will be introduced in showrooms in Europe in 2015.
The hybrid’s CO2 emissions will dip under 50g/km, while a 113bhp 1.2-litre supercharged three-cylinder engine will replace the current 1.6-litre petrol. The new 1.6-litre diesel, carried over from the current car, will have its CO2 cut to below 100g/km.
These exclusive images show how the new model could look, with a bolder front end, dynamic curves along its sides and a large roof spoiler at the rear. The new Qashqai will be built on a new, modular platform that will underpin medium-sized Renault and Nissan cars, from the next X-Trail to the forthcoming Megane. This has been engineered to accept plug-in hybrid technology, and the Qashqai is first in line.
The 2014 Nissan Qashqai will go on sale early next year and pricing is expected to remain similar to today’s model, starting from around £16,500.
